  • English
    • Beautiful bastide dating from 1276, Beaumont-de-Lomagne is a town that prospers thanks to its fairs and agricultural markets, but also of course thanks to the fame of the region's white garlic. It is home to pretty mansions and charming brick houses. Amusingly, with the turmoil of history, the town has passed through Haute Garonne and now Tarn-et-Garonne since 1802. Beaumont-de-Lomagne is one of the most pleasant holiday resorts, both for its cultural richness and local interesting, only by its geographical position, to discover the surroundings.

Stroll through Beaumont-de-Lomagne and discover the Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption church, of massive construction, its 50-meter octagonal bell tower of the Toulouse type, required more than 90 years of work for its construction . The 14th century Halle houses the market on Saturday mornings. To see beautiful buildings, head to, among others, La Maison Fermat which houses the media library, the Hôtel Toureilh where the Town Hall is located, La Maison du Seigneur d'Argombat and its timber framings, the Hôtel de Ruble, the Maison Molas, the Maison Jean 1er d'Armagnac, the Cordeliers... Lovers of architecture, go to the tourist office to take a map and locate these beautiful residences and the others (many) in the town.

And what about garlic? It is an age-old condiment, with proven curative virtues, it is a killer of all kinds of bacteria, a very effective vermifuge, an antiseptic and it seems a powerful stimulant of the immune system. On the markets, you find it in beautifully braided sheaves, in pods, candied or as a condiment in delicious cooked preparations. Lomagne alone supplies approximately 12,000 tonnes of white garlic per year. To celebrate garlic in Lomagne, go to Garlic in celebration, in July! This celebration brings together up to 15,000 people each year (and no vampires!
