  • English
    • Roquefort-sur-Soulzon is a small village in Aveyron, famous throughout the world for its cheese. Clinging to the limestone cliffs of Combalou, it offers an exceptional natural setting.

      Why is Roquefort-sur-Soulzon so famous?

      The cheese

It is undeniably the region's flagship product. Roquefort, a blue-veined sheep's cheese, is matured in the village's natural cellars, at constant temperature and humidity. These special conditions give the cheese its unique taste.

      The Roquefort cellars

They are dug into the limestone rock, which provides a perfect place for maturing cheese, thanks to a stable temperature and humidity throughout the year.

      The heritage

The village has a rich historical heritage. Discover old stone houses, Romanesque churches and even Templar remains.

      The surrounding villages

Very close to Saint-Affrique and Millau, Roquefort-sur-Soulzon is worth the detour to unveil its authentic terroir.

Fantastic service and advice! The friendly staff provided advice on the immediate area as well as, unprompted, called another town's tourist centre to find out details about specific venues. Absolutely brilliant.
