      A bit of history

      Camarès has a turbulent history. It played an important role during the Middle Ages, notably as the seat of a Carolingian viguerie. The town was also a Protestant stronghold during the Wars of Religion, which left it with interesting architectural traces.


      What to see and do in Camarès?

      Camarès offers many possibilities for discovery.

      • Le Rougier de Camarès : this natural region, located around the city, is a paradise for those who love nature. Its scrubland landscapes, red cliffs and forests allow for beautiful hikes.
      • The Old Bridge : this 11th century bridge is one of the symbols of Camarès. It spans the Dourdou de Camarès with a breathtaking view of the town.
      • Notre-Dame du Camarès : the church also has a panoramic view of the surrounding area from the statue of the Virgin.
      • The old feudal castle now houses a rose garden where it is pleasant to stroll in this pleasant setting.
      • The Camarès biscuit factory : discover the secrets of making the famous local cakes.

    pleasant aire de camping car, by river, €5 inc services, great for short stay, town very run down, but could be fabulous, a real shame. People very nice as well.

    The 2024 Camarès Christmas Market has kept its promises. Diverse exhibitors, numerous visitors, warm atmosphere, everything contributed to its success. Finally, remarkably organized by the Tourist Office - and, in particular, by Mylène -, it has undoubtedly become a benchmark event for South Aveyron.

    Pretty little village of Camares, small downside, no place to drink coffee or anything else. Bring your bottle of water
