Sunday lunch out, and we chose the lovely restaurant, Le Moulin De Varen, peacefully situated on the river in quiet Varen. Service was a bit odd, with a very domineering lady ruling over two guys who seemed terrified to do anything that us, the customer, requested without her say-so. Despite that, we had a very lovely lunch from the brief but creative menu. The food was beautifully presented and quite artistic. I chose: - Cannelloni d'agneau &' Aveyron, purée de carottes à l'estragon, vinaigrette aux fines herbes - Quasi de veau d'Aveyron-Ségala, tian provençal, olives noires - Riz au lait léger aux fruits exotiques, sorbet Noix de Coco We sat outside and watched the river flow gently by. A beautiful location by the river. Informal yet impeccable service. And of course the food....well it's simply the best in the area, and beyond! Very seasonal ingredients. Refined yet still imaginative. Superb flavour combinations and high skill levels in all aspects. My only addition would be to have some more superb wines that match the quality of the food. Highly recommend.

The team, food, setting and experience is the perfect combination of innovation, effortless, exceptional humble yet expert service and care. The food is exquisite without any pretension and is innovative and utterly delicious. Unforgettable. My favourite restaurant in France. Just heavenly. We watched the seasonal butterfly dance which is astonishing and the people are genuine, kind and fun. Total restaurant perfection with world class dishes and no hint of ego or performance. Huge congrats to everyone. Thank you.
