Go on an adventure: The Via Ferrata of Roc du Gorb in Aveyron!

Do you like adventure ? How about going with me for a walk along a rock face ? From cable to cable, I climbed the Via Ferrata du Roc du Gorb in Aveyron, not far from Najac. Enjoy the scenery, pass over a lush green waterfall and finish gently, sliding down a 100m long zip line, does that tempt you?

Via ferrata: a fun and sporty activity at the same time

Via ferrata is an outdoor activity, derived from climbing and hiking. It is accessible to everyone, provided you are not too afraid of heights and are in good physical condition. You can even (according to the recommendations of each site), share this moment with your family and children. At Roc du Gorb, you will explore a beautiful rock structure with ladders, footbridges, rope bridges and even a zip line.

This route that runs along the rock face will allow you to discover a green region of this territory, with all along the way, a breathtaking view of the Viaur valley. But rest assured, you are in complete safety thanks to specific individual equipment : harness, via ferrata lanyards, carabiners, helmet and pulley for the zip line.

Adventure in the great outdoors

Once you've gotten over the apprehension of the first steps, enjoy discovering a preserved natural environment. The trail starts at the top of a majestic rock, then you descend following the bed of a river, to a beautiful waterfall. Take the opportunity to have a picnic or snack break, to regain your strength before the zip line, which is one of the largest in the region... thrills guaranteed! Bonus: you can do it as many times as you want !

It is important to specify that if you encounter difficulties during the course, the Via Ferrata du Roc de Gorb has 3 escape routes, to stop whenever you want... It takes 1h30 to do the entire route and much more if you do the zip line 10 times (even if you shouldn't overdo a good thing anyway!).

During the climb, the view is so impressive that you won't know where to look: on one side the valley crossed by the Viaur river, on the other the relief shaped by the trials of time. You still keep a feeling of tranquility, thanks to the cocoon of greenery that surrounds you. My favorite part was the succession of suspension bridges : a real Fort Boyard version of nature ! Quick, I need the key! We become big kids again...

The Via Ferrata of Roc du Gorb in Aveyron, some practical information

From the village of Bar, go down the road that leads to the Viaur valley and turn right towards Cessetière. You will then have to pass by the campsite "Le Gourpassou" and continue to the car park. Once parked, continue for about 800 meters on foot following the signs " via ferrata ".

• If you have never or very rarely practiced via ferrata

It is possible to be accompanied by a professional to start safely and to not miss any of the pleasure of discovering new sensations. For children it is recommended to be at least 12 years old. Group outings are organized by http://aagac.com/ in July and August.

• If you have already practiced via ferrata

Access is free and open from January 1st to December 31st. You can rent all the necessary equipment from Mr. Doucet Jacques who lives in the village of Bar : remember to book a few days before your arrival: 05.65.65.73.98 / 06.13.65.04.46

The Roc du Gorb Via Ferrata, many activities offered in the region

You will love experiencing a sporty stay in Aveyron ! Indeed, the Via Ferrata is not the only activity accessible in Bor-et-Bar which has the advantage of being located near Najac. Depending on your desires, you can also:

• Horseback riding and horseback riding in nature
• Go hiking on the GR36 for example, or along the Verhne stream
• Climb on your bike to pedal on the trails around Najac
• Hitting a ball at the Saint-André-de-Najac mini-golf course
• Visit the Moulin le Moulinet between the production of walnut oil and millstone flour
• Paddling a canoe along the Viaur

And even more so as the natural site of Roc du Gord is of unsuspected wealth.
