La Berbie (Bisbia in Occitan) means bishop, which is consistent with the Palais de la Berbie being the former urban castle of the bishops of Albi. Built in the 13th century, it featured military architecture before becoming a residence for the bishops. The Palais de la Berbie is one of the oldest castles in France, and together with the Cathédrale Sainte-Cécile forms an episcopal city that can be discovered on a guided tour. The Toulouse-Lautrec Museum, housed in the palace, is another attraction for visitors, who can discover both monuments on the same day. Don't forget to take a stroll through the gardens of the Palais de Berbie, which offer a breathtaking view of the city and the river.
