Our favorite? Les Vignobles Gayrel, which produces unusual, new and, above all, quality wines, which can be found in their online store or in their cellars in Gaillac and Lescure-d'Albigeois. White, red, rosé, sweet or sparkling, there is something for everyone and for every budget with a wide range of wines accessible to all. No need to be an expert to enjoy a good glass of wine!

Gaillac wines, one of the oldest vineyards in France

2000 years ago, the Romans had the very good idea of planting vines in this land of character, bathed in sunshine. Today, the winegrowers of Vins de Gaillac are 300 passionate professionals who offer you a very rich and varied palette, composed of wines in AOP Gaillac, AOP Gaillac Premières Côtes (White) and IGP Côte du Tarn. It is the diversity of the terroir , which allows the development of a whole range of wines, to please all palates. Original grape varieties make up the generous and elegant blends. Come and discover Mauzac, Loin de l'œil, Baucol, Prunelart and all the unique and ancestral grape varieties, valued by the winegrowers.

Our favorite? Un Pari du Sud, a domain focused on its terroir

Do you like moments of sharing and conviviality around a good glass of wine? Come without delay to the Un Pari du Sud estate located in Andillac, 20 minutes from Gaillac! Daughter of Paris and guy from the south, Sophie and Nicolas make single-varietal wines, whether red with Merlot, white with Sauvignon or rosé with Syrah. A journey in a bottle, this is the proposal made by these two enthusiasts who have only one goal, to offer you the joy of sharing a good bottle. Hold out your glasses, it's time to toast!

A Bet from the South, quality wines to taste and share

Spread over an area of 6 hectares, the vines planted on steep hillsides rise up facing the Grésigne forest, offering a magnificent landscape that changes with the seasons. Passionate about their profession with the desire to lock the flavors of the south in bottles, Sophie and Nicolas turn to an ecological approach and are labeled HVE (High Environmental Value). The result is there since they obtain the silver medal with their first production of Sauvignon Blanc IGP Côte du Tarn at the Paris agricultural show in 2023. Ideas abound at a Pari du Sud, so keep your eyes peeled for new developments and summer parties!

>>>> Zoom on the dovecotes of the Tarn and the Gallac region: Here is an element of the small architectural and cultural heritage of the Tarn not to be missed! The dovecotes in the Tarn are very varied in their shape, their location and the materials used in their construction. Why are there so many of them? Pigeon droppings, the columbine, were for a long time the only authorized input in the vineyard! This is why, to promote the production of this natural fertilizer, dovecotes have been built in the 4 corners of the vineyard. There are more than 1700 to discover during your wanderings. There is even a Dovecote route, which passes through Gaillac, of course!

Sumptuous landscapes that pass before your eyes, sunny and with beautiful perspectives, there are airs of Tuscany there... what do you prefer? Visiting the country houses, castles, hilltop villages, going hiking, discovering multiple outdoor activities?

Of course, go to Gaillac (stroll through its superb Saint-Jacques district), visit the fortified town of Lisle-sur-Tarn (and its large square with perfect geometry), Rabastens (and its magnificent red brick ensemble), Puycelsi (perched on its rocky promontory with its 800m of ramparts, classified among the most beautiful villages in France), Castelnau-de-Montmiral (still one of the most beautiful villages in France!), Cordes-sur-Ciel (which needs no introduction...) and you are only a few kilometers from the regional capital, the unmissable Albi...

Very beautiful panorama
Breathtaking panoramas to discover while hiking

Hiking enthusiasts are not left out: paths and trails that are always marked, sometimes labeled, allow you to discover nature in complete tranquility. As a family, it is perfect for being able to select walks perfectly adapted to your needs! Sports enthusiasts will find a beautiful playground here, with hikes of up to several dozen kilometers, through landscapes of great beauty.

On foot, but also by bike, on horseback, nature activities such as fishing are to be discovered around Gaillac! And why not take to the skies by taking a ride on board a small tourist plane? Fly over the landscapes of the region, the vineyards, the plains and the plateaus... A pleasure to treat yourself to during the holidays, with selected service providers (fr)!

All these activities will make your stomach churn, won't they? The region's restaurateurs invite you to discover local products and regional gastronomy, by cooking you delicious specialties all year round. In the Tarn, we don't joke about the pleasures of the table! The department is a basket of plenty, filled with pink garlic, Lacaune ham, farm-raised veal, cheeses, wild and precious mushrooms like truffles... Taste the Albigensian pot-au-feu and for dessert, enjoy a gourmet coffee while biting into one of the Tarn's famous pastry and biscuit specialties (Jeannots, navettes, Gimblettes, casse-museaux, etc.).
