Founded in 1214 by the Templar Guiriaudus de Mauriaco (which explains the name Mauriac), the castle was restored for many years by its owner, the painter Bernard Bistes and his family , who fell in love with this Historic Monument listed in the Michelin Green Guide . Known until the 17th century as a Pastelier castle, it was the place where pastel was grown to dye clothes blue. All this history as well as its rebirth and renovation are presented during a one-hour guided tour of the castle grounds, allowing you to discover the life of the time , but also that of the Bistes family who still live there.
