      A bit of history

      Saint-Geniez-d'Olt experienced a period of great prosperity thanks to the drapery industry, which left indelible marks on its architecture. In the 17th century, it was one of the most important cities in Rouergue. Today, it is a delegated commune of Saint-Geniez-d'Olt-et-d'Aubrac.


      What to see and do in Saint-Geniez-d'Olt?

      • Stroll through the historic center : the old quarters of Saint-Geniez-d'Olt are a real open-air museum. You can admire the private mansions, the half-timbered houses and the many churches, such as the parish church from the 17th and 18th centuries.
      • Discover the Augustinian monastery and chapel, buildings from the 14th and 17th centuries, which bear witness to the city's religious past.
      • Stroll along the Lot : the banks offer an ideal setting for a peaceful stroll. Rent a kayak to explore the river or simply relax by the water.

    We followed a guided tour organized by the Tourist Office to learn about the history and heritage of Saint-Geniez-d'Olt. The guide is fascinating and we have the pleasure of discovering the “treasures” of Saint-Geniez. A visit to recommend!
