To the north of Aveyron, the Landes de Mayrinhac form a natural area, classified as “Natura 2000”. The area is protected because it brings together different ecosystems: a typical moor of the Plateau du Carladez, a strip of forest in the Combe de Lavaysse, on the banks of the Bromme, meadows... The local fauna and flora are particularly interesting, and in particular Raptors. You will probably make beautiful ornithological observations there, along the cliffs of the site.
The discovery trail begins on the church square in Mayrinhac, in the town of Taussac. It is a family walk and easy to access. Another circuit, called the "Sentier de l'imaginaire de Taussac", takes you into the forest, following strange wooden sculptures, and informs you about the subject of wood.
The town has a historical heritage that deserves a visit. Farmhouses have been restored. They are significant of the architecture of the Carladez. The church is a gem, which contains more than 1000 relics.
