Valence Towns, Villages and Bastides in Valence

Useful information

Province : Tarn & Garonne - Les grandes vallées fluviales

  • English
    • Watered by the Garonne, Valence-d'Agen is a 13th century bastide where water is everywhere. There are magnificent small and large fountains to discover, as well as two superb wash houses: the Théron wash house and the Saint-Bernard wash house. The Tuesday morning market is held in a beautiful hall, where not far from there is the National Square, the Notre-Dame church, as well as a beautiful dovecote. But the great wealth of the city is its port-canal of the two seas, which connects Bordeaux to Toulouse. Near the public garden and other fountains, it is the extension of the Canal du Midi which leaves from Toulouse. It is a pleasure to walk there, to find freshness in summer and to admire the magnificent sound and light show "Over the water ... a story", in the middle of summer. If you are starting a cycle ride with the family or alone along the canal, take advantage of the Valence stopover, where you will find many amenities.
