 Do you know the beautiful Tarn-Aveyron region? Rich in varied landscapes between mountains, causses, plateaus and rivers, it is also renowned for its gastronomy and its specialties. Epicureans, gourmands, gourmets and curious people, go to the markets to discover the region's flagship products, and meet the farm producers. Stroll through the aisles, admire the colors of the stalls, smell the good smells emanating from the stands and enjoy a friendly atmosphere at any time of the year. Let's start with Aveyron which is full of local markets, gourmet markets and producer markets depending on the season. Millau, Rodez, Rozier and Potenssac, each town and village welcomes artisans in the morning or all day during the market. What a great opportunity to stock up on fresh produce and discover the specialties! On the meat side, brass lamb from Aveyron, farm lamb from Pays d'Oc, Ségala veal and even farm beef from Aubrac are unanimously approved. Don’t forget to plan an aperitif with a typical charcuterie including melsat, fricandeaux, tripoux or trenels, a Millanoise version of tripe. The visit continues at the cheese stand with Roquefort, Pérail and Bleu des Causses, to be tasted before the sweet products. Fauna, fouace or spit cake, the market ends with a gourmet touch at the baker! Are you coming home to cook? Take inspiration from local recipes with farçous, aligot or truffade.

The Tarn is an equally gourmet region with Lacaune charcuterie renowned for its inimitable taste. You can find it in the markets of Lacaune of course, but also in adjacent towns like Albi, Castres, Mazamet or Gaillac. The latter also allows you to accompany your meals with a good Gaillac wine. Depending on the season, you can buy Rose de Lautrec garlic in a bunch called Manouille, or responchons which is wild ivy to eat like asparagus. Don’t forget to taste the poumpet, a pastry made from puff pastry flavored with lemon and bergamot.

The Tarn-Aveyron markets are perfect for stocking up on fresh produce, but also for stocking up on souvenirs with a Laguiole knife or leather gloves from Millau, the capital of leather.
